Introduction

The BSocSc (Hons) in Sociology facilitates students to have a solid mastery of sociological knowledge, including concepts, theories, methods, and applications, for understanding social relations, institutions, and culture. Students will be equipped with quantitative and qualitative research skills for conducting projects to study social relations, institutions, and culture in Hong Kong and other Chinese societies. Students will also develop competence in analyzing social issues and social problems in Hong Kong in the context of globalization. By providing concentrations in the curriculum and experiential learning opportunities, our programme aims to enhance students’ employability in the job market.

Sociology major students will make their choice of concentration between “Entrepreneurship and Community” and “Culture, Heritage and Innovation” in Year 3 (applicable to students admitted after 2019-2020).
